death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

Highly esteemed detective, Mr Poirot retired from his duties, plans for a recreational visit to Egypt. A place well adored for giant mythological sculptures, archeological findings, the beautiful Nile and camel rides was the destination to be.  Coincidentally, it also happens to be the  honeymoon destination of "talk of the city couple " linnet and Doyle. Although their love story is not exactly ideal, as to when they met of the first time Doyle happens to be fiance of linnets best friend Jacqline at that time. This honeymoon was a widespread talk of the city and it did attract some people. Total passengers on the boat comprised of the following : the detective himself, the couple Mr and Mrs Doyle, a mother and son pair Tim Allerton and Mrs Allerton. An elderly women from an affluent background Ms  accompanied with a maid and a nurse . There is also a Dr. Mr. Bessner and a sought of personal business manager of Mrs Doyle Mr Pettingson. There is also Ms Jacqueline, the former fiance of Doyle following them on this journey. Then there is mother and daughter pair Rosaline who happened to join in as well
The journey was progressing smoothly untill Poirot gathers that Jacqueline has plans to kill linnet sonner or later in this trip. In fact she does make a failed attempt at Doyle in a intoxicated state, which injured Doyles leg severely. The very next day, something even terrible happens Linnet was shot in head when she was in sound sleep. Surprisingly the shot was heard by people was very faint that no-one suspected anything has happened in the night. With very few facts, an already guilty Jacqueline and everyone being a suspect Poirot was the only saving grace to bring out the truth till the boat reaches  harbour.
In the beginning when a series of characters were being introduced abruptly the reader definitely will feel an overload of information which don't seem to have any relation to the story in the beginning. But as the story progresses we understand, it was worth it as it is these very unique people from different walks of life that keep our guesses on the suspect Alive. To sum it the story is wonderfully crafted. As we uncover the pretense of people with Poirot,  we are presented with motives such as money, jealousy and  revenge for the murder which we uncover from their past. This in a way throws a reader in different tangents as to the real murderer. Lastly the uncovering of the murder and the climax was unexpected and definitely logical. Maybe a bit too carefully planned on the murder side for my personal liking but the climax was unexpected and dramatic. Very unique ending indeed.
Not sure if it's just me, but I feel that the story could have progressed with slightly higher pace as it was boring at the beginner of the book. The uncovering of rosalies behaviour caught me by surprise, not to mention there were not many facts to conclude it. These were very minor points that were a miss for me. But otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book and give it a solid 4 out of 5.
I would like to recommend this book for all murder, mystery and suspense enthusiasts. This book would also intriqgue a mix of travel and light romance lover in a story as well.
